Fifteen Years of Promotional Products, Now Properly Configurable Online
Brand Gifts — turning a vast catalog of customizable corporate merchandise into a Shopware store where businesses configure, brand and bulk-order giveaways that actually work.
Overview
Brand Gifts is a German promotional-merchandise company with fifteen years behind the tagline ‘Werbeartikel, die wirken’ — promotional products that work. Its catalog is enormous and wide: bags and luggage, USB and electronics, food and drink, giveaways, kitchen and home, leisure and sport, office and writing, outdoor and tools, seasonal lines, textiles, wellness and more — each with deep subcategories.
These aren’t off-the-shelf consumer goods. Almost every item is meant to be branded — printed, engraved or embroidered with a company’s logo — and ordered in quantity, with tiered pricing, minimum order quantities and corporate billing. The buyers are marketing teams, agencies and corporate purchasers who need to see how their logo will look and what a run of 500 will cost before they commit.
The challenge was an eCommerce experience that could handle product customization and B2B ordering across a sprawling catalog — letting a buyer configure an item, visualise the branding, get bulk pricing and request or place a corporate order — without drowning them in 11 top-level categories and hundreds of subcategories.
The Challenge
A 15-year promotional-products business with a huge catalog and a clear B2B model — but customization, bulk pricing and corporate ordering are exactly the things a standard storefront handles badly.
Almost everything is customizable
Products need logo placement, print/engraving method and proof approval — not a simple add-to-cart.
Pricing depends on quantity
Promotional buyers order in bulk with tiered pricing and minimums; a single retail price doesn’t fit.
Sprawling catalog
Eleven top-level categories and hundreds of subcategories make findability a real challenge for buyers.
Corporate buying workflow
Marketing teams and agencies need quotes, accounts and corporate billing — not consumer checkout.
Branding is hard to picture
Buyers hesitate when they can’t see how their logo will look on the product before ordering.
Our Approach
Promotional buying is a configuration problem before it’s a checkout problem, so that’s where we focused. With the Brand Gifts team we mapped how a marketing buyer actually moves — by occasion, by budget, by audience — and how each product needs to be personalised before it can be priced.
Shopware 6 gave us the catalog backbone, and our Shopware development team built a product personalization layer on top: per-product options for branding method, placement and quantity, wired to a pricing engine that applies tiered bulk discounts and minimum order quantities automatically as the buyer configures.
To remove the hesitation, we added logo/branding preview cues and a clear proof step so buyers can see and approve how their mark sits on the product. For corporate buyers we built the B2B layer — accounts, request-for-quote, bulk carts and corporate invoicing — so the way agencies and marketing teams really purchase is supported, not worked around.
Across a catalog this large, navigation was its own project: structured categories, strong filtering by occasion, material and budget, and search tuned for how buyers describe what they want. The build is staged so more personalization types and integrations can be added without a rebuild.
Solution Delivered
The store gives buyers practical ways in: shop by category, shop by occasion and audience, and shop by budget — so a marketing team planning a trade-show giveaway and a buyer replenishing branded office supplies each find their path through a very large catalog.
Product pages became configurators. A buyer picks the branding method and placement, sets the quantity, and watches tiered bulk pricing and minimum order quantities update live — with branding preview cues and a proof step so they can see and approve the logo before committing. No more guessing what a run will cost or look like.
For corporate buyers, a full B2B layer handles the reality of promotional purchasing: business accounts, request-for-quote for large or recurring orders, bulk carts, and corporate invoicing the team can approve and convert from the admin. Repeat campaigns become repeat orders rather than fresh email threads.
Underneath, a sprawling catalog was made navigable with structured categories, filtering by occasion, material and budget, and tuned search — plus clean, search-friendly category pages so Brand Gifts ranks for the promotional-product terms German buyers actually search.
